Oakleigh South Child & Family Centre

I am very passionate about sustainability, mental health and wellbeing, safety and community involvement just to name a few, which I hope to share with you all. Located in the foyer is an artwork by Wurundjeri and Dja Dja Wurrung artist Samantha Richards. Titled Sharing Country, the painting welcomes visitors to the hub with its vibrant colours and pays homage to the local environment. Our Early Learning Centre also has 3 years and 4 years old kindergarten 5 days a week.
Our team of dedicated early learning experts hold each other to a very high standard. One of our parents says we’re a ‘perfect place for kids to get messy and come home with a sandpit in their shoes’. Our Kids Oakleigh South is operated by MYK PTY LTD ATF The MYK Family Trust, which contributes insignificant to the total available child care capacity in Victoria. The Hub is host to a Friday playgroup (2pm - child care oakleigh south 4pm) which is independently run by a community parent group. Inspired by these discussions, Richards wove their stories and experiences together to create a work that celebrates the knowledge and history our environment holds.

Explore our amazing learning spaces, meet our fantastic team, and ask all the questions you need about how your child will receive the best care and education. For those who don’t, there are more planned experiences to support development, most likely outdoors, or an excursion into the community to encourage social skills. From our nursery through to our government-funded Flying Start to School long daycare kindergarten program, we provide a place where your child’s learning and growth are celebrated. Our Pre-Prep families also have the opportunity to attend parent information sessions throughout the year, on topics such as learning about the Junior School Quartet, a Junior School tour and Prep readiness information. We also offer a comprehensive transition to school program in term four, for those Pre-Preps joining us at Oakleigh Grammar for Prep. Programs and activities run in this room need to be child, parent or family focused.
The funding offsets the fees for three and four-year-old children that are part of the centre's long day care Kindergarten program. Families will save up to $2,101 a year for children aged three-years-old and above in eligible long day cares. Engaging experiences will be set up so your toddler feels comfortable and can start playing with other children.
Our primary goal is to create an environment in which each child’s growth and development is nurtured and their love for learning is strengthened through collaborative partnerships with peers, educators and wider community. Our Flying Start to School Kindergarten learning program continues throughout the morning with planned experiences for pretend play, reading or exploring puzzles together, before children are then invited to enjoy morning tea. Our program continues with opportunities for children to explore and discover in both our indoor and outdoor environments. That I can provide children with quality care, meaningful learning opportunities, and discoveries!

Every little one from Oakleigh gets the individual attention and care required that’s carefully aligned to the most up-to-date practices and guidelines. Naturally, our highly experienced staff can cater to any personal needs that have been highlighted – we’re 100% invested in the wonderful individual journey that your precious baby is making. Architects for the project AOA Christopher Peck created spacious interiors that open out to external decking and outdoor learning areas where children can explore the natural environment under the cool shade of leafy trees. Your baby will enjoy engaging in both our indoor and outdoor nursery environments with planned experiences like songs and story time, followed by morning tea. To BE Me is our exclusive learning program designed for each age & stage of a child's first years, tailored to their age, interests & strengths. Their pathway is personalised, with every milestone captured to makes the link between play & learning clear & memorable.
Through a stimulating play-based program and intentional teaching practices, we aim to equip children with essential skills, deep understanding, positive learning dispositions, social and cultural competence, and emotional wellbeing. Located on Centre Road, our long day care centre provides a convenient stop for families on the way to work. Our beautiful, purpose-built childcare centre also has plenty of onsite car parking for easy drop-offs and pick-ups.

The eleven Child Safe Standards, which came into effect on 1st July 2022, are compulsory minimum standards for all Victorian early childhood services and schools, to ensure they are well prepared to protect children from abuse and neglect. We believe that parents are their child’s first and most important teachers, our goal is to foster a trusting and respectful partnership between the ELC and families. We embrace the Reggio view that parents, family members, teachers all play vital roles in the educational journey, acknowledging that it takes a collective effort to nurture a child. Your child’s local school is determined on the basis of their permanent residential address. The enrolling in a school page can also help you to confirm your child’s address for enrolment. All Victorian government primary schools follow the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.
Enrolling your child/ren with Oakleigh Primary School’s OSHC Service has never been easier. We’re excited to meet you and your child and can’t wait to introduce you to our Teacher and Educator Team and show you around our centre on . Breakfast time provides a great chance for you to share what is important and how your baby’s night at home was.
This space features a 72-inch smart TV, full kitchen facilities, and large bifold doors opening onto a small fully fenced outdoor area with rock yarning circle. The room is fully carpeted to the kitchen area, which has vinyl flooring. The architects for the project were AOA Christopher Peck and construction undertaken by Simbuilt. The project was supported with $3.7 million in funding by the Victorian Government, with Council contributing $2.3 million.

Our daily rates are all inclusive and have no additional charges for incursions / excursions or any of our learning programs. The rates shown are an estimate based on using Childcare Subsidy (CCS) subsidised hours. The CCS helps lower your out-of-pocket costs, with subsidy rates dependant on your individual family eligibility levels.
Regardless of which Centre in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs you choose, you will find engaging indoor and outdoor environments for children aged six weeks to six years. McKinnon boasts indoor learning spaces with a wealth of age-appropriate resources. The Centre offers a French language program, and an outdoor music space to boost curiosity and creativity. At Guardian, we create the space to help your child feel safe and secure to explore their world. We put your child at the centre of their growth, becoming curious and creative learners as they develop their sense of self.
The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) defines seven Quality Areas under the National Quality Standard (NQS) to ensure high standards of education and care in early childhood services. The SchoolTV platform gives parents access to a wide range of expert-backed wellbeing resources, helping families and schools work together to support the wellbeing of all students. As valuable partners in promoting and maintaining child safety and wellbeing at Oakleigh South Primary School we welcome and encourage your feedback.
